In the 1970s anti-nuke activists essentially stopped the growth of nuclear as a source of US power in its tracks. In the 1980s and 1990s, gas-fired and coal-fired power plants, which emit 50X the CO2 levels of nuclear, were constructed. Combined, natural gas and coal generated about 20% more CO2 emissions than oil in the US in 2006.

As of 2006, nuclear power is used to generate about 19% of power consumed in the US. Coal is used to generate 49% and all fossil fuels combined generate 70% of our electricity.

Hydro and other renewables account for just over 9% of our electricity.

Renewables are great. Wind power makes a lot of sense. But for hyrdo and wind to be the answer, we would have to start consuming electricity at levels 40-50% below the present level, which is unrealistic.
Nuclear clearly represents a large part of the answer – - – IF the question is “how can we sharply reduce the CO2 emissions from generating the power that we generate.”

Most AGW proponents claim that it’s not about forcing a “back to nature lifestyle” through taxes or outright restrictions of energy use, so the question isn’t just “how can we reduce CO2 emissions.”

While uranium mining and processing involves some CO2 emissions, so does any mining and processing, and the levels are still a small fraction of the CO2 levels associated with fossil fuels.

If half the power plants constructed in the 1980s through today were instead of gas and coal fired, nuclear, our carbon footprint would be much lower than it is today.

And clearly more would have been built if not for the exaggerated claims and scaremongering of the anti-nuclear movement.

So is it fair to say that, if man-made CO2-driven warming is real, the environmentalists themselves are partly to blame?

So everyone harps and harps and harps ad nauseum about Bush and Cheney having prior ties to the oil industry making them immediate mindless patsies to the Great Satan Big Oil, but what about the Democrats and Big Green? The funny part is that those like Pelosi have DIRECT investments in alternative fuel companies whose technology they’re trying to ran through in legislation. So when these Big Green companies that the Democrats are lackies to start making billions in profits, will there be a call for Windfall Profits Taxes? I guess that will depend on whether Pelosi and her cohorts have sold their stock or not.

    How freaking hypocritical, LOL!

“August 18, 2008 (LPAC)–In May, 2007, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi bought stock in the initial public offering of T. Boone Pickens’ company, CNLE (Clean Energy Fuels Corp.). George Soros is a stockholder as well.

CNLE is part of the network of Pickens’ companies set to profiteer off his “Pickens Plan” for a massive shift to wind-generated electricity, and then–so he asserts, a massive freeing up of natural gas for transportation. CNLE provides compressed natural gas and liquified natural gas. Pelosi owns between 100,000 and 250,000 shares.

CNLE is reported to be a sponsor of Proposition 10 in Pelosi’s home state of California, calling for $10 billion in state and Federal funding for companies involved in renewable, clean energy–namely, wind power and natural gas. A sister company operated by Pickens, Mesa Power, is involved in $12 billion of mega-wind farm projects in West Texas. Pelosi also favors Federal tax breaks and financial aid for “renewables” energy projects.”

Pandering to Big Green? Hmmmmmm…billions? Hmmmmm…
dconstru, when did the US go to war for the oil companies? The US hasn’t taken a drop of Iraqi oil years later, but yet you keep blindly repeating the Dems tag lines. Leads to some credibility issues if you ask me. I wish we would’ve taken the oil, my gas would be cheaper.

Along with solar power, wind power deserves attention as a viable source of energy which offers the extra benefit of being totally clean. Today’s efficient, quiet and compact wind turbine systems can be an excellent option for just about anyone who’s looking to reduce their monthly electricity bills. Anywhere that has a breeze can be converted into a power generating area thanks to wind turbines.

Some homeowners are even putting together their own wind turbines. Commercially available wind turbines, although they offer great performance, can be costly, and building your own turbine is a good way to lower costs. Once you’ve got the right parts and a design, you can build a wind turbine in just a couple of days. Are you interested in knowing the price range of commercial wind turbines? You can check out wind turbines cost for futher info.

Aside from that, all you need are some simple tools and technical skills.

There are a few basic parts that are necessary for building a wind turbine. You may even have some in your possession already. The basic parts for any wind turbine are rotor blades, something to mount the equipment on, and a generator.

All wind turbines depend mainly upon the blades and rotor assembly. When the blades catch the wind, the turbine rotates, and this is what leads to the production of energy. Different sources offer plans for building rotor blades, which can be done using PVC pipe. This, too, doesn’t require professional-level mechanical skills.

Once the blades and rotor are done, you’ll need an appropriate generator. Generators come in many shapes and sizes; it’s even possible to salvage an old motor from another type of appliance for this purpose. It’s possible to use any type of motor, as long as it can generate electricity when rotated.

Mount the rotor and blades on one end of a platform, then join the shaft from the rotor to the shaft on the generator. You now have a usable wind turbine. If the wind turbine is located in a spot where it can get steady wind, the rotors will continue to turn, providing electricity that is 100% free and unlimited.

So yea we arent actually at the stage where the entire car is actually able to be powered by the sun but with this it is getting very close indeed. At the moment there is already something out there that could really help out your car battery and your fuel costs too. The worst thing about air con is that it not only wears down your car battery but it also slowly brings down the fuel count as well.

{It works as you can attach it onto a specially made spoiler in which when you aren’t driving you roll out the cover over the top of your car and it starts to actually charge the car up with solar energy}. The great thing about this is that once the item has actually been installed into your car you can use it for so many things from the obvious air con to the CD Player.

If you think where this kind of technology will be in 20 years time you will begin to understand the potential to this kind of product. Yea the cover itself is quite ugly and will not actually end up powering thing for very long but if more people buy it then more money is invested into the technology to make it better for the future.

It is unsure if they are going to release this product onto the market or not as of yet but if they do it is sure to start selling to the people who are really interested in these green products.

For people that don’t really care about this and need a new car then look into getting a new Audi or perhaps a Audi R8. There are also many used cars if you do not fancy splashing out on a brand new car.

So it is up to you really on whether you are interested in getting a brand new green car that is going to help save the world and fix some of the awful damages that we have inflicted on it or if you are going to go out and buy a brand new car to enjoy, the choice is really up to you.

Most people are now constantly looking for other sources of cheaper energy. Some of the ones that are now being opted for are wind and solar. In the article that follows the reasons they are gaining popularity are talked about in detail.

The focus of my writing will revolve around: solar panels for creating electricity, Solar Wind Power and Efficiency and DIY Solar Electricity UK

DIY wind and power systems are taking the frustration out of life. Gone are the days when you had to follow the kids around and make sure the lights are turned off. With solar and wind power once you put it in place then you won’t be paying any energy costs. The saving on the money for power bills will amaze you. The extra money give you a chance to direct your money to other pressing things.

The electrical power produced using wind and solar does not run out. The extra energy that you generate can be kept in batteries and can be used at your convenience. You can increase the quantity of power that you produce by building more panels. Is that not difficult you ask?

No; building your own DIY wind and solar power systems is quite easy. The Instructional and DIY manuals available allow you to be able to set up and install your own system within at least two days. So over a time frame of a month you can have your home totally operating on green electricity. The manuals will provide step by step illustrations to simplify this task.

Most of the energy sources that have been in use are quite harmful to the environment. The wind and solar power systems do not affect the environment and therefore considered green methods of generating power. The only thing that could be stopping you from taking up this is not knowing where to find the material.

This is not a problem as any reliable DIY wind and solar power system will normally provide information on where you can buy the required components. There will also give you a quote on the amount you can expect to pay. But it should not be above $250.
